felipe caicedo earned a penalty and then scored the winner as the russian hosts fought back from a goal down to gain a narrow first-leg advantage.

the goal gave the home side renewed confidence and ten minutes later they were ahead, caicedo capitalising after the athletic defence failed to clear renat yanbaev's left-wing cross. the visitors had chances to equalise, but guilherme denied fernando llorente's tepid effort and a more threatening one from muniain to leave lokomotiv with their noses in front.
